Privacy Policy
Emergency 24, Inc., (“EM24”) values the privacy of our
LIFEcard Secure Members and takes precautions to safeguard
their account data and information from unauthorized use.
The following is a detailed explanation of our privacy
policy with regard to the LIFEcard Secure web site and our
Services.
EM24 offers secure database services to our Members. Members
provide EM24 with specific identifiable information such as
name, address, email, phone numbers etc. EM24 does not
lease, license, sell or share any Member account data
information with anyone or with any company that is not
authorized under the terms and conditions of the Services
requested by the Member. EM24 does not capture any
credit-card number information. All credit card transactions
go through Verisign, one of the largest transaction
processors in the Internet.
Member has the ability to access and to maintain account
data and information via the Internet. Some of the
information gathered and available through this service may
include: 1) general Member information: name, address, email
addresses, phone numbers, password; 2) Banking Information;
3) Credit Card Information; 4) Insurance Information; 5)
Investment Information; 7) Password Information; 8) Personal
Information; 9) Property Information; 10) Contact
Information. As a user of our web site and/or a participant
in our LIFEcard Secure Service, you hereby acknowledge that
certain personally identifiable information concerning you
is collected and stored by EM24.
The only people who are authorized to access, view and
modify Member account data and information are those who
know or can access the Member’s LOGIN “Username” and
“Password”. EM24 EMPLOYEES DO NOT KNOW NOR CAN THEY ACCESS
THE MEMBER’S “PASSWORD” OR ANY INFORMATION THE MEMBER MAY
STORE IN THE DATABASE. IT IS SOLELY THE MEMBER’S
RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE AND SAFEGUARD THE LIFECARD SECURE
LOGIN “PASSWORD” FROM UNAUTHORIZED USE. If a third-party
individual accesses the Member’s account data and
information through “authorized” channels, EM24 is NOT
responsible for how that third-party individual or entity
secures and safeguards the Member’s account data and
information.
IF MEMBER FORGETS THEIR “PASSWORD”, EM24 IS NOT ABLE TO
PROMPT MEMBER OR TO PROVIDE ANY ACCESS INFORMATION. EM24
WILL PROVIDE MEMBER A NEW ACCOUNT AT NO CHARGE FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT. MEMBER WILL HAVE TO
RE-ENTER ANY AND ALL ACCOUNT DATA AND INFORMATION TO THE NEW
ACCOUNT.
The LIFEcard Secure database is encrypted using the Advanced
Encryption Standard (AES). The U.S. Government adopted this
algorithm as its encryption technique in October 2000. It is
calculated that by the level of technology in 2000, the
128-bit AES key could take up to 149 trillion years to
crack. Also, secure database uses “Note” fields rather than
standard templates that may be more easily deciphered.
However, that encryption level and other security techniques
may not stop “hackers” from attempting to access or
succeeding in accessing the database. Therefore, Member may
want to encode some or all account data and information.
Some recommended techniques and encoding techniques include
the following: 1) Do not record complete credit card account
numbers – for example – to notify a credit card company of a
lost or stolen card you need: the phone number of the credit
card company, the name on the card, the last 4 digits of the
principal card holder’s social security number, and the last
4 digits of the card. The credit card company will find the
proper account to cancel. 2) If Member does put complete
card numbers into the note field, encrypt the number by
selecting one or two digits and add or subtract some number
that will make the account number useless to hackers. It is
the Member’s responsibility to remember the encryption
technique for when access to the unencrypted information is
needed. .
EM24 reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any
time and will notify you accordingly if any such changes
take place.
